Located on Chestnut Street between 5th and 6th streets in Philadelphia, Independence Hall is the centerpiece of Independence National Historical Park which preserves several associated with the American Revolution. Construction of Independence Hall began in 1732 under the guidance of Andrew Hamiltion, the Speaker of the Pennsylvania Assembly, who sought to provide a dignified setting for the Assembly’s meetings which were previosuly held in private homes and taverns. It was the most ambitious public building in the thirteen colonies and construction was paid for as funds were available. For this reason it was not until 21 years later in 1753, that the building was considered complete. The five part plan included a 105 foot long main building, two covered arcades and two 50 foot long wing buildings. The three buildings together span a city block know as Independence Square. The bell tower, consisting of a wooden steeple at the top of the main three story brick house was the original home of the Liberty Bell and today holds the Centennial Bell created for the Unites States Centennial Exposition in 1876. Independence Hall has sometimes been referred to as the birthplace of the United States. From 1775 to 1783 (except for the winter of 1777-1778 when Philadelphia was occupied by the British Army) the Hall has served as the principal meeting place of the Second Continental Congress. It was in the Assembly Room that george Washington was appointed commander in chief of the Continental Army on June 14, 1775. On July 26 of the same year Benjamin Franklin was appointed the first Postmaster General. The Delcaration on Independence was drafted, debated and approved here before being signed on July 4, 1776. The design of the American flag was agreed to here in 1777 in the same room that the Articles of

An Afternoon Stroll, 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle Made by Ravensburger. There are no adults or at least just a few in Pauline Paquin’s paintings. That’s what the artist wants. One can imagine that the adults are not very far, watching over the children. The children are omnipresent, they have the front scene, lost in their world, in the moment. The artist puts them in their natural environment, either in an urban or a rural setting. The artistic composition is accessory, it serves as a way to illustrate the place and the moment. They are the most important element. Every piece of work is an expression of LIBERTY and JOY FOR LIFE. Tears, and there will be some, are for later. THE PUZZLE-MAN TOYS W-1140 Wooden Educational Jig Saw Puzzle - Liberty Bell

THE PUZZLE-MAN TOYS W-1140 Wooden Educational Jig Saw Puzzle – Liberty Bell

$25.9

Develop dexterity, problem-solving and reasoning skills, hand/eye coordination, colour, shape, size identification, and more with these big, bright, multicolored wooden jigsaw puzzles. The pieces are light in weight, large in size (about 3/4 in. thick for easy handling), and interlock loosely so even pre-schoolers can assemble them easily. All are precut, safe, sturdy, and water-resistant. The colours are non-toxic stain-like impregnated finishes. The Liberty Bell is approximately 11-3/4 in. high, 9-1/4 in. wide, and is Brown in colour. This design came about in 1976 during the Bicentennial period. We were asked to design a puzzle appropriate for elderly stroke victims, to use in rehabilitation of their hand/eye coordination and finger dexterity. And it just seemed logical to do a Liberty Bell, which associated more with their age and era rather than the child in them. Other designs, more associated with young children, tended to belittle them. It became an immediate success in the rehabilitation community. I love it when a perceived child’s toy concept can appeal to the kid in us adults. It’s very gratifying to know as adults we have not lost touch with our youth. It is nice to reminisce about those “good ole days” THE PUZZLE-MAN TOYS Our wooden toys are created for the safety and education of all. We started designing for young children, but soon found that every person in the family was the kid having fun. While having fun, learning skills are very apparent. These wooden toys help develop dexterity, hand/eye coordination, colour, shape, size identification, problem-solving and reasoning skills, plus many others. All of our jigsaw Puzzles are created without a frame to insert the pieces into, as most others are. We want the child to match and compare body parts that go together or structural shapes to each other, in order to reassemble each design. Not put a piece into a frame that matches the frame, having no consideration for the relationship of the components
